Cryptocurrency giant Binance has officially announced that it is winding down support for non-fungible tokens on the Binance Exchange, marking another major shift as the broader digital asset industry moves away from centralized marketplace models. Moving forward, the management of NFTs will be transitioned to the company’s self-custodial cryptocurrency product, the Binance Wallet. According to an official announcement released by the exchange on Wednesday, this strategic pivot is designed to offer NFT holders significantly easier access to Web3 applications and decentralized features.
The decision by the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume reflects a wider industry trend. Major centralized platforms are increasingly stepping back from the non-fungible token sector, choosing instead to reallocate resources and capital toward other high-growth areas, such as the tokenization of real-world assets. Binance is merely the latest prominent player to dismantle its native exchange-level NFT infrastructure, following similar strategic withdrawals by competing platforms across the digital asset ecosystem.
For instance, crypto exchange Kraken formally shut down its dedicated NFT marketplace in February 2025, signaling cooling interest among centralized intermediaries in maintaining active trading order books for digital collectibles. Similarly, leading multichain NFT marketplace OpenSea announced that it was halting support for BNB Smart Chain-native NFTs as early as August 2023, signaling a progressive fragmentation and cooling of cross-chain enthusiast engagement.

As part of the wind-down timeline outlined by Binance, current platform users and digital asset collectors have until July 3 to withdraw their transferable non-fungible tokens from the exchange platform. The exchange explicitly warned that any transferable assets left on the platform after this fast-approaching deadline will become permanently inaccessible. For users holding non-transferable NFTs—digital items that are structurally designed by smart contracts or platform parameters so that they cannot be withdrawn—Binance has instituted an alternative solution. In these specific cases, Binance Academy will provide affected individuals with an official PDF certificate of course completion to acknowledge their achievements or participation.
Binance to offer fee reimbursement for NFT migration
To cushion the blow of the mandatory migration process and encourage users to secure their digital assets in self-custody solutions before the deadline, Binance has announced that it will implement a series of promotional incentives. Specifically, the exchange will offer temporary fee reimbursements for NFT withdrawals over a one-month promotional window.
The relief initiative is divided into two distinct promotional categories designed to cover different classes of digital collectibles housed on the platform. The first category provides a reimbursement covering general NFT withdrawal fees for standard collections, excluding items associated with specific high-profile partnerships. The second category specifically involves a withdrawal fee reimbursement tailored for users holding CR7 NFTs, which are tied to the high-profile promotional partnership between Binance and football star Cristiano Ronaldo.

To manage the financial scope of the migration promotion, the exchange stated that it will carefully select up to 100,000 eligible users to receive the fee reimbursements. Each chosen participant will receive a flat credit of 1 USDC for an eligible NFT withdrawal. Binance confirmed that these funds will be credited directly to the eligible users’ standard Binance spot accounts no later than July 3, aligning with the final deadline for asset extractions from the exchange infrastructure.
The broader digital asset market landscape has continued to face persistent headwinds, particularly within the digital art and collectables sector. The wider NFT market has been on a sustained downward trajectory for a considerable duration, with market observers noting that leading historical collections have consistently failed to stage a meaningful recovery toward the euphoric all-time highs witnessed during the summer of 2022.
Market data from specialized analytics platforms illustrates the extent of this prolonged contraction. CryptoPunks, which historically stands as the largest non-fungible token collection by overall market capitalization, has experienced a severe correction. The iconic pixel-art collection is currently trading at a floor price of approximately 30.9 Ether. This figure represents a dramatic 61% decline from its historical all-time high valuation of 80.9 ETH, a peak that was originally recorded by the market in July 2022.
The downward pressure has been even more pronounced across other flagship communities. Data provided by NFTPriceFloor demonstrates that the floor price for the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection has tumbled significantly. The collection was recently trading at a floor price of 7.9 Ether, which marks a staggering 93% plunge from its staggering all-time high valuation of 128 ETH achieved during the height of the market mania in May 2022.
