Blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs has officially doubled its valuation to $2 billion, following a successful expansion of its Series C funding round. The latest financing tranche was led by Blockchain Capital, marking another major milestone for the compliance and security provider as demand for digital asset tracking surges. While the company chose not to disclose the exact financial size of this latest capital injection, it shared significant operational milestones in an announcement on Wednesday, noting that its annual recurring revenue has quadrupled over the past three years.
This valuation milestone follows a $70 million Series C funding round in February, which was also led by Blockchain Capital. Prior to that February capital raise, TRM Labs held a valuation of $930 million, according to data compiled by Traxcn. The firm had previously crossed the $1 billion valuation threshold during a funding round that included participation from prominent institutional backers such as Citi Ventures and Galaxy. The rapid escalation in value highlights the growing institutional focus on blockchain analytics, risk management, and regulatory compliance infrastructure within the broader digital asset ecosystem.
TRM Labs provides advanced blockchain intelligence and investigation software to a diverse and expanding global client base. According to the company’s recent disclosures, its platform is currently utilized by more than 600 government agencies and private-sector institutions across 75 countries. These organizations rely on TRM’s software to monitor transactions, trace illicit funds, and secure digital financial systems against sophisticated cyber threats. The company emphasizes that its artificial intelligence-powered tools are specifically designed to investigate fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, and a wide array of other digital crimes that continue to plague both decentralized and traditional financial networks.
The soaring demand for sophisticated crime-fighting technology comes against a backdrop of escalating financial losses tied to cybercrime and digital fraud. According to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crime Complaint Center, digital crime losses reported to the agency climbed sharply to $21 billion, up from $16 billion in the previous year. Furthermore, TRM Labs highlighted its proprietary AI-in-Crime Adoption Index, which indicates that the criminal adoption of artificial intelligence has risen by 40% year over year, underscoring the growing technological sophistication of illicit actors operating within the digital economy.
The announcement of the $2 billion valuation arrives roughly two months after TRM Labs secured a major government contract. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement awarded TRM a roughly $95 million, one-year contract aimed at providing specialized forensic software and ongoing support services for Homeland Security Task Force investigations. This high-profile agreement positioned TRM as a critical technology partner for federal law enforcement agencies seeking to combat complex cross-border financial crimes facilitated by cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.
However, the lucrative contract also drew scrutiny from industry competitors. Rival blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis challenged the sole-source award in federal court later that month. In its legal filing, Chainalysis alleged that the decision made by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement to award the contract directly to TRM Labs was arbitrary, capricious, and unreasonable, setting the stage for ongoing legal and competitive tensions within the specialized blockchain intelligence sector as companies vie for lucrative public-sector cybersecurity budgets.
