Crypto startup Fomo has successfully raised $75 million in a Series B funding round led by prominent venture capital firm Index Ventures, valuing the social trading and token discovery platform at an impressive $550 million. The substantial capital injection highlights continued investor appetite for consumer-facing Web3 applications, even as broader digital asset markets experience fluctuating prices and macroeconomic headwinds.
The funding round also received robust participation from Union Square Ventures alongside Fomo’s existing early-stage backer, Benchmark. In addition to these institutional venture capital heavyweights, the financing attracted a notable roster of high-profile angel investors. Among them are Zynga co-founder Mark Pincus, Eventbrite co-founder Kevin Hartz, Discord CEO Humam Sakhnini, and Nexos AI co-founder Tomas Okmanas, among others, as Fomo formally announced on Monday through its corporate blog.
Fomo has carved out a distinct niche in the decentralized finance and trading ecosystem by addressing some of the most persistent user experience friction points. The platform allows everyday users to seamlessly trade digital assets across multiple blockchains without the traditional complexities of manually bridging funds or handling complicated gas fee configurations. By abstracting these technical barriers, the company has experienced rapid adoption since its public launch just a year ago.

According to metrics released by the startup, Fomo has attracted more than 625,000 active traders over the past twelve months. This growing user base has translated into robust platform activity, generating a cumulative $4 billion in trading volume and facilitating over 110 million social interactions among its community members.
The $75 million Series B raise further contributes to a steadily expanding pipeline of venture capital deals within the cryptocurrency sector this year. Industry data compiled by RootData indicates that crypto startups managed to raise $4.1 billion across 147 distinct funding rounds during the second quarter alone. This ongoing capital deployment demonstrates that institutional investors remain willing to fund promising infrastructure and application layer projects despite digital asset valuations remaining well below their recent historical highs.
Fomo says 68,000 users made first crypto purchase on platform
A key driver of Fomo’s recent growth has been its success in onboarding absolute beginners into the cryptocurrency ecosystem. The company reported that more than 68,000 users completed their very first cryptocurrency purchase directly on the platform utilizing mainstream payment infrastructure like Apple Pay. This particular onboarding channel alone has accounted for roughly $25 million in total transaction volume, proving that integrating familiar Web2 payment rails can significantly lower the barrier to entry for novice crypto investors.

The platform’s unique blend of social networking dynamics and decentralized trading mechanics has also drawn favorable attention from industry analysts and research institutions. In a December post on the social media platform X, prominent crypto research firm Delphi Digital highlighted Fomo’s innovative approach to user engagement. The research firm noted that the platform’s heavy emphasis on social discovery features successfully alters user behavior, making digital asset trading feel significantly more akin to scrolling through a personalized social media feed than staring at a dense, intimidating financial terminal.
Delphi Digital further emphasized Fomo’s rapid commercial traction in its analysis, writing that in November, the @fomo_family account generated more monthly protocol fees than Moonshot, despite operating as a younger product with lower overall fee structures.
At its core, Fomo functions by allowing users to view trades executed by other community members in real time. Members can then effortlessly copy or execute similar trades across multiple disparate blockchains, completely bypassing the tedious requirements of manually bridging assets or managing separate wallet balances for different networks. While Fomo has popularized a unique consumer-facing social interface for this activity, the broader concept of copy-trading is already well-established within the digital asset industry. Other major centralized cryptocurrency exchanges offering variations of copy-trading features include Binance, Bybit, OKX, Bitget, BingX, MEXC, Gate.io, KuCoin, Phemex, and BitMart.
Fomo has continued to expand its product offerings and ecosystem incentives at a rapid pace to maintain this momentum. On June 11, the platform officially launched perpetual futures contracts powered by Hyperliquid, making these advanced derivatives available to users operating outside of the United States. Earlier in the month, on June 2, the company milestone-checked another operational achievement by announcing that it had successfully surpassed $2 million in referral fees paid directly back to its active user base, cementing a community-driven growth loop that continues to fuel its expansion across the competitive Web3 landscape.
