The Ethereum Foundation has officially announced a significant addition
to its leadership structure, welcoming prominent ecosystem contributor and security advocate pcaversaccio, widely known as "pc," to the Ethereum Foundation Board. The appointment marks a noteworthy step for the organization as it continues to navigate its ongoing evolution while reinforcing its commitment to foundational principles such as censorship resistance, open-source development, privacy, and security.
As a long-standing and active participant within the broader Ethereum development and security communities, pc brings a wealth of hands-on experience to the board. Beyond individual contributions to technical discussions and codebases, pc serves as a co-founder and lead of SEAL 911, an emergency response initiative designed to assist web3 protocols and users facing active security threats or exploits. Through this role and various other community-led engagements, pc has consistently worked to advance robust security practices across the entire ecosystem, helping to safeguard users and infrastructure against sophisticated malicious actors.
In addition to operational security work, pc has been an active member of the Ethereum Foundation’s Silviculture Society. This advisory group provides informal counsel to the Foundation, offering perspectives aimed at sustaining and protecting the core values that have defined the Ethereum network since its inception. This advisory background aligns closely with the responsibilities of the Ethereum Foundation Board, which acts as a strategic guiding body rather than a day-to-day management team.
The scope and responsibilities of the board were further clarified earlier this year with the release of the official Ethereum Foundation Mandate. According to this guiding document, the board is tasked with setting the overarching vision of the organization and overseeing that high-level strategies and executive decisions made by management remain closely aligned with the Foundation’s core values. Functioning effectively as a security council, the board exists to protect the heart and soul of the Ethereum Foundation while ensuring its strict legal and regulatory compliance as a registered Swiss non-profit foundation.
pc’s thought leadership within the ecosystem is further underscored by several influential written works. In 2024, pc authored The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto, a modern adaptation of Eric Hughes’ historic A Cypherpunk’s Manifesto, tailoring those foundational ideals specifically to the realities and technical architecture of the Ethereum network. Building upon those themes, pc followed up in 2025 with Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty, continuing to advocate for user privacy and sovereign control over digital assets and identity in an increasingly complex technological landscape. These publications have resonated deeply within developer and researcher circles, cementing pc’s reputation as a dedicated defender of decentralized ethos.
With this new appointment, the composition of the Ethereum Foundation Board reflects a balance of historical continuity and specialized expertise. The current board members now include Aya Miyaguchi, who serves as President; Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum; Patrick Storchenegger, acting in his capacity as Swiss counsel; and now pcaversaccio.
According to the announcement, pc is joining the board for an initial one-year term operating on a voluntary basis. The collective leadership expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that pc’s unique perspective, deep technical background, and unwavering dedication to the cypherpunk ethos will be invaluable assets in helping to steward Ethereum’s long-term future. As the ecosystem continues to scale and face new regulatory, technical, and social challenges, the inclusion of a dedicated security and privacy advocate on the board signals a firm institutional commitment to preserving the decentralized and permissionless nature of the network.
