The announcement introduces Polygon’s comprehensive Open Money Stack—a robust bundle of financial and payments tools—to the Solana ecosystem for the very first time. This strategic move addresses a notoriously persistent and complex bottleneck in the digital asset payments landscape: while executing a direct token transfer is often technically straightforward, bridging the gap between traditional fiat banking systems and decentralized wallets remains a cumbersome hurdle. Typically, businesses attempting to bridge this divide are forced to stitch together a fragmented patchwork of disparate third-party providers, each requiring separate technical integrations, compliance checks, and legal contracts.
Polygon Labs’ Open Money Stack aims to collapse that friction into a single unified technical connection and a consolidated commercial relationship. Companies and developers are given the flexibility to adopt the complete platform suite or selectively integrate individual components into their existing enterprise architectures. Through this integrated infrastructure, a business operating on Solana can seamlessly connect traditional banking, credit and debit card networks, cash-handling channels, and various crypto funding routes. Furthermore, the platform allows developers to spin up embedded user wallets, dynamically route and convert funds across multiple blockchain networks—including Polygon, Ethereum, and Tron—and distribute final payouts directly into traditional bank accounts, payment cards, or digital wallets.
To illustrate the practical utility of the platform, a cross-border remittance provider utilizing the Open Money Stack could theoretically accept traditional fiat dollars from a sender, instantly deliver USD Coin (USDC) across the Solana network for near-instant settlement, and simultaneously connect the destination recipient to a local bank payout system without friction.

Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder and CEO of the Polygon Foundation, emphasized the broader industry pain point that this integration seeks to resolve. Every traditional commercial bank and financial technology firm that attempts to incorporate cryptocurrency into its operational stack inevitably faces the same fundamental challenge of connecting those digital rails to the existing accounts and legacy payment systems that their customers already rely on, Nailwal noted. By extending the infrastructure to Solana, Polygon Labs is enabling a broader array of enterprises to build and transact natively on the specific blockchain networks that their end-users prefer.
Among the early adopters leveraging this newly established Solana integration through the Open Money Stack is Kira, a prominent cross-border payments firm. Kira is utilizing the infrastructure to help its corporate clients efficiently convert stablecoin transfers into local fiat currency, such as U.S. dollars, deposited directly into traditional bank accounts to settle transactions with overseas suppliers.
This cross-ecosystem collaboration reflects Solana’s rapidly expanding gravitational pull as a premier venue for high-volume payments and commercial settlement. According to data from the Solana Foundation, the high-performance network has processed an extraordinary volume of more than $5 trillion in stablecoin transactions over the course of the year. This momentum has been further reinforced by recent network developments, including the rollout of a dedicated institutional settlement standard formulated with direct input from banking giant J.P. Morgan, alongside the successful activation of the Alpenglow upgrade, which stands as one of the most ambitious technical milestones for the network since Ethereum’s historic Merge.
For Polygon Labs, bringing its payments stack to Solana builds directly upon a broader, aggressive push into global financial infrastructure and digital asset commerce. This strategic trajectory has been highlighted by key corporate maneuvers, most notably Polygon’s acquisition of crypto-cash infrastructure firm Coinme, positioning the organization to capture an increasingly vital share of the rapidly evolving digital currency economy.
